The World Health Organization has quarantined an island nation due to an outbreak of a nasty illness. Students must work collaboratively to purchase materials, build a device, and deliver necessary medical goods, food, (and chocolate!) to the Toxic Island’s ill inhabitants before time runs out. Can RVA students work together to save the island, or will it perish?!

Ages: 2nd Grade-12th Grade

Schedule of Events:

• 12:00 - 12:30 Introduction, Explanation, Group Work, and Brainstorming

• 12:30 - 1:00 Pizza Lunch and Teambuilding

• 1:00 1:30 Research and Solution Development. Students will draw a plan for approval including purchasing order for international purchases

• 1:30 - 3:00 International Building Supply Locations begin to open and teams can begin to purchase materials, build a prototype, and test their device

• 3:00 - 3:30 Toxic Island! The devices will be put to the test

• 3:30 - 4:00 Awards Ceremony (Parents encouraged to attend)
